Cowboy Up

Frontier Days and Rodeo
"The Daddy Of 'Em All"

Who can visit Cheyenne during Frontier Days and not go to the rodeo. We had a blast!! It was so exciting watching all the cowboys and cowgirls. I wish we would have gone more than the once, although the kids seemed to lose a little interest after awhile. The things people do in a rodeo are amazing. I can't imagine the strength and courage it takes for them to do a sport like this. We did see one guy get bucked off and then trampled and horned. It looked really scary, but he got up and walked away. Also a special treat from the Cheyenne rodeo is the wild horse race. It doesn't happen any where else they said. At the end of the day 10 or so teams of 3 guys came out and had to get a wild horse, saddle him, and 1 guy had to ride it around the entire length of the track. Sounds easy right? Remember I said wild horses! This seemed to be one of the most dangerous events. Guys were being thrown left and right. One's who did make it on didn't make it very far down the track. Out of the bunch there were only 2 guys who made it back around to the finish. It was crazy to watch. After the show some of the cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo royalty were down signing autographs. Cameron wasn't that excited by it, but Zach and Ashley thought it was cool. Zach had his hat signed by everyone. It is probably his favorite souvenir!

For those you have never been to a rodeo you should rent the movie 8 Seconds with Luke Perry. It has always been one of my favorites, and it is exactly the life we witnessed that day.
